The Buzz Machine
I’ve had the discussion with librarians that they don’t want to have a blog because they are worried about the comments people will leave, the things staff might say or what the repercussions might be with external organizations such as parents or their umbrella government.
However, buzz can only be good thing. People talking about you gets people thinking about you, searching for you and eventually visiting you. Besides, what you don’t know can’t hurt you, but it’s sure not going to help you either. I think the key for me is why aren’t libraries using every possible forum to interact with potential users. A low to no cost way of reaching younger people. What’s not to love?
